An Inseperable Relationship Between People and the Land
MEXICO
It wasn’t until I moved to Mexico in November of 2020 did I realize how much of an intoxicating country it is. I keep finding myself wanting to stay longer, explore deeper and learn more about Mexico.
One lesson this country has and continues to teach me is that there is an intimate connection between culture and land. Throughout the history of Mexico, land has been at the forefront, from the Aztec and Mayan civilizations to the Spanish conquistadors, from Emiliano Zapata’s farmers’ revolution to native groups’ current fight for land rights. The people and the land are inseparable, yet Mexico is a land of migration flows, pilgrimages, art and movement. My goal is to explore the dichotomy between these two concepts through photography.
